Gardai are investigating a shooting in Co. Louth which has left a man in a serious condition.

At around 9:30pm last night a man aged in his 40s was approached by a lone gunman and shot a number of times in his car.

It happened as he was leaving a house in Termonfeckin.

The man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where his condition is described as serious.

Officers say the attacker made his getaway in a dark coloured car and are appealing to anyone who may seen anything to come forward.
