Gardai are investigating a serious assault on a man in his early twenties in Dublin.

It happened at just after 5 o'clock this morning near the junction of Camden Street and Harrington Street.

The suspect, described as being in is twenties, with black hair, a dark top and blue jeans, ran off in the direction of Wexford Street.

The man, who received head injuries, is in a serious condition at St James's Hospital.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Kevin Street Garda station.
