A post mortem will be carried out today on the body of a man who was stabbed to death in Co. Clare overnight.
The victim (31) - who is understood to be a Polish national - received serious stab wounds at a house in the Sandfield Mews estate in Ennis at around 1 O'clock this morning. It's understood he was attending a party at the apartment, just off the Gort Rd.
A second man (39) was found near the scene suffering from injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening. He has been taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital. Gardaí believe the man was involved in the earlier incident at Sandfield Mews. Eye witnesses say he sustained his injuries by jumping through a window at the scene.
Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident - 2 of them Irish - they're being questioned at Ennis and Shannon garda stations.
Superintendent Derek Smart of Ennis Garda Station has told Clare fm that emergency services had been attempting to transfer the dead man to Cork University Hospital for treatment when he died:

The scene remains sealed off this afternoon, awaiting a garda technical examination. Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Michael Curtis is due to carry out a post mortem at Limerick University Hospital this afternoon.
Officers are also liasing with the Polish embassy, and Interpol, in an effort to contact relatives of the victim.
