A man has been jailed for three years for dumping the body of his friend in a water-filled ditch near Dublin Airport. In April, Alan Harte of Claireville Grove in Glasnevin was acquitted of murdering Peter Gunn but he was found guilty of impeding the prosecution.

When Mr. Harte took the stand during his murder trial back in April, he admitted helping to get rid of Peter's body but denied killing him.

The remains of Mr. Gunn (28), a father of two, were found eleven days after he was stabbed inside a flat in Cabra Park on January 4th 2009.

Harte told the jurors he was innocent and accused his Albanian friend - Kastriot Boza - of killing him after being insulted by the victim earlier that night.

Mr. Boza said the exact opposite and accused Mr. Harte of stabbing Peter after he made some remarks about his uncle.

In the end, the jury found the accused not guilty of murder but guilty of impeding the prosecution. He has been sentenced to six years in jail with the final three years suspended.
