Gardaí in County Sligo are investigating a fatal collision which claimed the life of a young man.

The incident happened at Clogher in Monasteraden, just off the R294 Boyle to Gurteen road, at approximately 6.20pm yesterday evening.

A 22 year old man, who was the sole occupant of a tractor which was drawing a trailer- received fatal injuries when struck by the trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Sligo General Hospital, where a post mortem will be carried out this morning.

The road is closed to allow gardai carry out a forensic examination of the scene and local diversions are in place.
