A man has been killed in a workplace incident in Donegal. 

This afternoon, Gardaí were called to the scene of the explosion on the outskirts of the Gaeltacht village of An Bun Beag (Bunbeg) in the west of the county. 

Bomb disposal experts from the Defence Forces have been requested and the fire brigade and ambulances were also summoned to the scene. 

The Health and Safety Authority have been notified of the incident. 

Road closures and diversions remain in place.
