A man in his 80s has died following a two-vehicle crash in County Meath.

The collision between a car and a van happened on the R162 Nobber to Kingscourt Road at around 5pm this evening.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 80s, was killed in the collision.

The two occupants of the car were taken to hospital by ambulance and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The scene of the collision is preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The R162 Kingscourt to Nobber road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. The road will remain closed overnight.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users with camera footage - including dash-cam - who were traveling between Navan and Kingscourt on Tuesday evening between 4.30pm and 5.30pm are asked to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
