A man in his 60s has been killed in a workplace accident in Co Longford. 

He was working on a closed section of the Athlone Road in Ballymahon when he was hit by a work vehicle after 7pm yesterday evening, May 16th. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The site has been closed for technical examination, while the Athlone Road to Ballymahon has reopened following forensics. 

Both the Health and Safety Authority and the local coroner have been informed of the incident.
