The mother of a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend in Cork has said she hopes she never lays eyes on him again after he lost his latest appeal.
Darren Murphy from Passage West in County Cork was found guilty of murdering Olivia Dunlea in June 2018, after three trials.
His first conviction was quashed on appeal, but his latest attempt was today rejected by the Court of Appeal.
The appeal focused on bad character evidence heard during the trial and his claim the judge didn't direct the jury properly in relation to provocation.
Outside court today, Olivia's mother Ann said she hoped this is now finally an end to the legal process.
“Three trials and two appeals,” she said.
“It would kill you; I don’t know how we are sane. It is a disgrace, putting us through that.”
She said the family will now try and put the process behind them and begin to grieve properly.
