A man aged is recovering in hospital in Cork after being stabbed a number of times on Friday night.

The man (49) was found by a group of men on North Street in Skibbereen at around 11pm.

He had received multiple slash wounds and was taken to Cork University Hospital.

His condition is described as stable.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
