A man charged with the manslaughter of journalist Eugene Moloney has been remanded for a further 4 weeks when it is expected he will be sent forward for trial.

21-year-old trainee mechanic Gary Burch of Kennington Close in Templeogue made his 4th appearance at Dublin District Court this morning.

55-year-old Eugene Moloney received a blow to the head while walking home on Camden Street in Dublin city centre in the early hours of the morning on June 24th.

An inquest into his death opened earlier this month and heard the former Irish Independent reporter suffered internal bleeding in the brain.

Trainee mechanic Gary Burch is charged with his manslaughter.

Today he was further remanded in custody by Judge Denis McLaughlin until September 19th for service of the book of evidence.

The 21-year-old has not indicated how he will plead to the charge.

It is expected he will be sent forward for trial at his next court appearance.
