A man has been seriously injured in an assault near The Custom House in Dublin City Centre.

Gardaí say it happened at around 5.30pm yesterday on Beresford Place.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to the Mater Hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.
