A man in his 40s has been seriously injured in an attack in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí say they were called to a serious assault on Aston Quay at around 10:30pm last night.

The man was taken to St James’s Hospital where is being treated for serious injuries.

The scene remains sealed off this afternoon while Gardaí carry out a technical examination.

The investigation is ongoing.
