A man has been seriously injured in a car crash which took place on the N24 in Milltown, County Limerick.

The crash happened shortly after midnight between a car and a pedestrian, with emergency services arriving on the scene in the early hours of this morning.

The male pedestrian was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious injuries.

The female driver was conveyed to hospital as a precaution.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

The N24 is currently closed in both directions to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Investigations are ongoing.
