A man remains in hospital with life threatening injuries after he was shot multiple times in Dublin earlier today.
It happened at around 11:30am on Friday in an underground car park on the South Circular Road in Kilmainham.
The 41-year-old man had just left the gym in a local hotel.
He was shot several times as he sat in his car in the underground hotel carpark.
The carpark is opposite Kilmainham Jail which was busy with tourists and visiting school children when the incident happened.
Shocked
This man lives in an apartment beside the crime scene.
“I was shocked seeing all the Garda cars this morning,” he said. “It was just a few yards from me actually.”
The man is being treated in nearby St James’ Hospital for serious injuries.
The scene is currently preserved and a technical examination is to be carried out.
Gardaí say no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
An incident room has been set up at Kilmainham Garda station.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
People who may have camera including dash-cam footage, and were travelling on the South Circular Road in the Kilmainham area on Friday morning, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
