A Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli forces near the Gaza border.

It is the first casualty since the 2 sides agreed a truce on Wednesday ending their week-long conflict.

Palestinian emergency services said the 21-year-old man was killed in the southern Gaza Strip.

19 other Palestinians suffered gunshot wounds.

A Hamas spokesman says the incident marks a clear violation by Israeli forces of the terms of the truce.

Egypt peace deal

The peace deal was brokered by Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

It states that both sides must stop hostilities and also states that the opening of crossings and facilitating the movements of people and transfer of goods are also to be allowed.

The first section details that "Israel should stop all hostilities in the Gaza Strip land, sea and air including incursions and targeting of individuals".

While for the Palestinians it states "All Palestinian factions shall stop all hostilities from the Gaza Strip against Israel including rocket attacks and all attacks along the border".
