A man in his 30s remains in a critical condition after he was shot while out walking on farmland in rural Tallaght yesterday afternoon.
It is believed the man’s dog was shot dead during the incident off the Blessington Road, in the Hazel Grove area of Tallaght yesterday.
The man was treated at the scene by gardaí and paramedics before he was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed he was shot in the head.
Gardaí are investigating whether there was a dispute over the dog before the shooting happened.
The scene in Lugmore, a rural area outside Tallaght where a man walking his dog was shot.
He is in a critical condition.

Local Cllr Charlie O'Connor is urging anyone with information to assist the Garda investigation.
“We are hearing that that the person involved is in a serious situation at Tallaght hospital and we of course wish him well,” he said.
“Again, I would appeal as a local representative to please cooperate with the Gardaí.”
A man in his early 50s was arrested at the scene and remains in garda custody this morning.
