A man who pleaded guilty last week to charges arising from an investigation into the attempted murder of three men outside a Dublin pub will be sentenced next month.
Alan Wilson, with a last address at New Street Gardens in Dublin 8 initially went on trial for the attempted murders, but his pleas to lesser charges were accepted by the DPP.
On July 26th, 2010, the doorman and two patrons of the Players Lounge Pub in Dublin 3 were shot by a masked man armed with two guns.
Alan Wilson became a suspect following a separate investigation into the Kinahan organised crime group, when he was heard admitting to the shooting while chatting with another man in a vehicle that had been bugged by gardaí.
After initially denying it was his voice, he later admitted saying it – but put his comments down to “bravado,” claiming he hadn’t actually shot them and was just trying to impress his friend.
He does now accept he was involved in the conspiracy to carry out what the prosecution described as something that “bore all the hallmarks of an organised hit”.
He accepts he played a role in the organisation and planning of it, and claims he was acting on the instructions of a dissident republican group.
He will be sentenced next month.
