A 24-year-old man wanted in Northern Ireland on terrorism charges has appeared in the High Court. Patrick Malachy Gordon with an address at Newtownhamilton Road in Armagh was detained on a European Arrest Warrant this afternoon.
If extradited he is facing prosecution on 4 charges. It is alleged that on the February 17th 2010 he had a hand-written note listing material suitable for use in the manufacture of 'Napalm-type' incendiaries.
It is also alleged he had electronic files containing a diagram of a pipebomb and instructions on how to make incendiary bombs. He has been remanded until June 4th to Portlaoise Prison where he is currently serving a sentence.
Sergeant Jim Kirwan gave evidence of that when he asked Patrick Gordon if he knew what the charges in the European Arrest Warrant were about he replied that he did not.
The court heard he is not consenting to his surrender at this stage.
Mr. Justice Paul McDermott granted legal aid to the 24-year-old who sat at the back of the court wearing jeans, a checked blue shirt and a blue sweater.
