Man charged with father's murder granted bail to attend funeral

A young Gaelic football star charged with murdering his father has been granted compassionate bail to attend the funeral.

Sean Hackett told police that he shot his 60-year-old father - Aloysius - at the family home near Augher on Friday.

Omagh Magistrates heard how the 18-year-old suffers from depression.

His mother, 2 brothers and sister attended court and waved to him in the dock.

Teenager to be chaperoned by his lawyer

He was granted compassionate bail to attend the funeral.

He is to chaperoned by his lawyer and Tyrone Gaelic football manager Mickey Harte.

The teenager captained the Tyrone GAA minor team.

His father was also heavily involved in gaelic games and was a former chairman of Augher's St. Macartan's GAA club.

His funeral is due to be held on Wednesday.
