A man found not guilty of his wife’s murder by reason of insanity is being assessed at the Central Mental Hospital.
Diego Costa Silva killed his wife, Fabiola Camada de Campos, on November 4th 2021 at their home at Charlestown Place in Finglas.
When Gardaí responded to his emergency call, they found her decapitated body lying on the floor of the apartment.
Mr Costa Silva had been picked up by Gardaí two days beforehand after they found him running through the streets of Dublin city practically naked.
He was taken to hospital but released the following day.
Two forensic psychiatrists concluded that he was suffering from a cannabis-induced psychotic disorder.
And after just under two-and-a-half hours of deliberations, a special verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity was returned by the jury.
It means he will be taken to the CMH for further assessment ahead of hearing on what should happen next.
