A young man who posed as a teenage girl on Facebook in order to sexually exploit boys is facing a further charge for a similar offence.

The man, who was 19 at the time, has already pleaded guilty to three charges of exploitation of a child and two counts of defilement of a child at locations in Dublin on various dates between April and October 2012.

The man used two bogus Facebook accounts to convince three boys, aged between 13 and 14, to send him sexually explicit pictures and video images.

He even engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old he had met online.

He later told gardaí that he did not think there was anything wrong with what he was doing, and that he did it to explore his sexuality.

On Facebook, he posed as a 14-year-old girl and as a 14-year-old bisexual boy.

He sent friend requests to young teenage boys, before sending messages that became increasingly sexual in nature.

Judge Mary-Ellen Ring described it as a fishing exercise. She will finalise his sentence on the 29th of this month.

When the case was mentioned before her colleague Judge Martin Nolan today, the court was informed that the man will be arraigned on a further charge on that date.
