He has been charged with the murder of Ms Shortall, the mother of three whose body was discovered in a shed at Killoughter on Tuesday.

She had been missing since Good Friday.

Mr Webster remained silent during the five minute hearing.

Detective Sergeant Fergus O'Brien gave evidence that he made no reply after caution when charged at Wicklow garda station at 10:15pm last night.

Judge David Kennedy remanded him in custody until his next court appearance at Cloverhill District Court on this day week.

Mr Webster's solicitor, Dermot Hickey, asked that his client be psychologically assessed while in prison - a request granted by the judge.

A statement of means was also submitted.
