A Gardaí investigation has been launched after a man's body was discovered in Co Offaly.

The discovery was made in the Meadow Close area of Tullamore at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The body of the man, believed to be aged in his 40s, has been moved to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out.

The scene is currently being preserved.
