A solidarity march to mark three years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine will take place in Dublin this afternoon.

Ukraine Action in Ireland is calling on people to join in as they march from the GPO to Merrion Square, starting at 1 o'clock.

Foreign affairs spokesperson for Labour Duncan Smith has said the future for Ukraine - and Europe at large - is very uncertain.

"It's been a very long three years, not least for the people of Ukraine who have been victim to this assault and invasion from Vladimir Putin and Russia," he said.

"Unfortunately, it feels that despite talks of peace coming from the United States, that we aren't on the precipice of a lasting peace because the United States and Russia refuse to include President Zelenskyy and the Ukranian people."

US President Donald Trump has falsely labelled Zelenskyy a “dictator” and told Kyiv it must cede land to Russia.

This was apparently in response to Zelenskyy saying his US counterpart was living in a "disinformation space" after Trump claimed Ukraine had started the war.

The US leader has sought an agreement from Ukraine for access to the country's natural resources in exchange for weapons.

It is also believed that US negotiators raised the possibility of cutting Ukraine's access to Elon Musk's vital Starlink satellite internet system if Zelenskyy did not agree to a deal.
