Fine Gael’s executive council will this evening discuss the future of TD Maria Bailey.
Deputy Bailey was demoted earlier this year after an internal review found she had overstated the impact of injuries she suffered falling off a swing in a Dublin hotel.
She had taken out a personal injuries claim against the Dean Hotel but later withdrew it.
Last month, Fine Gael members Dun Laoghaire voted for a review of the party’s election ticket in the constituency.
More than 100 people voted in the secret ballot at the Royal Marine Hotel.
Deputy Bailey was not explicitly named in the vote, which called on party headquarters to urgently review the election strategy for the area.
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is this evening expected to deliver a recommendation to the council this evening on what should happen next.
He has already removed her from her position as chairperson of the Oireachtas Housing Committee.
He may now go one step further and remove her from the Fine Gael ticket for the next election.
That would leave the party with candidates in the constituency - Minister of State Mary Mitchell O'Connor and Councillor Barry Ward.
It may decide to add a third candidate to the ticket.
