Mario Rosenstock is Ireland’s best-loved impressionist, and he’s the star of Gift Grub on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show.

He was born in London, but he moved to Waterford at an early age with his parents, Patricia and Paschal and his younger brother, René.

His first stage performance was in school, where he appeared as Willie Loman in Death of a Salesman at the age of 16.

It sparked a love of drama and the arts, and during his time in Trinity College, he appeared in over a dozen shows with the Trinity Players.

An agent watched one of those plays, and with her help Mario secured a part in Glenroe while he was still in college.

But he’s best-known for his hilarious impressions on Gift Grub, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

Mario is married to Blathnaid, and they have two children: six-year-old Dashiell, and Bellamie, who turned one last month.

And these are Mario Rosenstock’s Musical Heirlooms…

Mario's song choices were:

  • Fleetwood Mac - Dreams
  • Bob Dylan -  Forever Young

He’s performing in ‘Gift Grub Live 3’ around the country at the moment – there are tickets on sale for his dates at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin every night from May 14th to May 17th, and there are tickets available for the University Concert Hall in Limerick on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or at the box office. His dates in the Olympia in April and his five nights in Cork are sold out.

You can also of course hear him every morning on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM.
