Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has said he is a fan of Charlie, the new TV drama series about former Fianna Fáil leader Charlie Haughey, and he isn’t worried it will do any damage to the party and people will see it in "a historical perspective."
Martin said today that people watching the series will know that the events it shows happened over 30 years ago.
Martin told reporters today that he's enjoying the series, although he said he will “withhold judgment on it until I see the last one because obviously I would have views on it like everybody else in terms of the drama and so on.”
He admitted it was strange seeing Laurence Kinlan, best known as gangster Elmo Creed in Love/Hate, playing Tony Gregory.
"Seeing Elmo coming in as Tony Gregory, there's a bit of a double take ... There’s a bit of that to adjust oneself to,” Martin said.
