The Fianna Fail leader says the Health Minister has to make a detailed statement in the Dáil on how he selected additional locations for primary care centres.
A row over the issue led to the resignation last week of a Junior Minister in his Department Roisin Shortall.
She made a number of further allegations against James Reilly at the weekend.
In an interview on Saturday Ms. Shortall said James Reilly drove former Health Service Executive (HSE) Chief Cathal Magee from his position.
And she described the decision by the Health Minister to locate 2 primary care centres in his constituency as “stroke politics.”
Deputy Shorthall said “I had serious differences with James Reilly, and I had serious about his ability to manage the health service…I still firmly believe that”.
Fianna Fail says it is evidence of the ‘dysfunction’ of the Department under the leadership of James Reilly.
Micheal Martin wants more information from Minister Reilly on the selection of primary care centre sites and the circumstances surrounding the decision by Roisin Shortall to resign.
While Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Caoimhghin O Caolain said the Health Minister must be removed from his position.
Speaking to Breakfast here on Newstalk this morning Mr. Martin says clarity on this issue is needed.
