Damping down is underway at the scene of the biggest fire in London for years.

At its height 200 firefighters were called to a recycling plant in Dagenham.

The flames were brought under control yesterday evening.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.

Plumes of smoke were sent across the city but the closing ceremoney of the Olympic Games was not affected.
