McDonald's has introduced the first ever vegetarian Happy Meal in Ireland.

It says the new additions are in response to "growing customer demand for more meat-free meal choices".

The choices include a Red Pesto Goujon Wrap, while a Spicy Veggie Wrap will also be on its permanent menu from Thursday.

This replaces the existing Spicy Vegetable Deluxe.

Both of the choices are Vegetarian Society accredited and dairy free.

The Happy Meal veggie wrap is made with a red pesto goujon, tomato ketchup and shredded lettuce in a toasted tortilla.

The spicy veggie wrap is made with two red pesto goujons, spicy relish and tomato, lettuce and red onion in a toasted tortilla.

Duncan Cruttenden is menu director at McDonald's UK & Ireland: "Our commitment is to offer great food, great choice and a great experience to our customers and we are constantly asking them how we can evolve and improve.

"We are really thrilled to be able to give our customers this new choice with the addition of the Spicy Vegetarian Wrap and our first Vegetarian Happy Meal."
