Six McDonalds restaurants in Dublin have reopened their doors after an eight-week shutdown.

The company said it has put a range of new measures in place to keep people safe amid an expected rush of customers.

The restaurants at East Wall, Artane, Nutgrove, Tallaght, Kylemore Road and Malahide Road have all reopened – but they are drive-thru only and there is a limited menu in place.

The company is warning customers that the new safety measures could see it taking longer for their food to arrive.

It said a high demand is expected and it will close the restaurants if authorities believe they are causing too much disruption.

Customers are being asked to pay by contactless where possible, with all purchases limited to €30.

Meanwhile, all employees will be behind Perspex windows and wearing protective equipment

Social distancing is being enforced in the kitchens and all workers are being asked to confirm they are fit and able to work each day.

They will also have their temperatures checked before arriving in.

McDonalds closed all of its branches on March 23rd due to COVID-19. The company said it hopes to have all restaurants open by next month.
