A jury has been sworn in to hear a civil legal action taken against Conor McGregor.
The action involves an allegation of sexual assault against the Dublin UFC fighter and another man.
McGregor and the other defendant, James Lawrence, of Rafter’s Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12, are both in court for the opening day of the lawsuit.
The judge told potential jurors that the woman bringing the case claims that they sexually assaulted her and, “in effect raped her,” on December 9th, 2018.
The jury was also told that the burden of proving the case rests with the plaintiff.
The judge noted that, unlike criminal trials, civil actions are decided on the “balance of probabilities.”
