Roscommon farmer Eoghan Mullooly, has been protesting at Athleague, and he said the protest will continue.

He explained: "We want this resolved - we don't want to be outside the gate.

"I'm quite sure Kepak and all the rest of them want this resolved as well. But this is up to Minister Creed getting them all together... getting them around a table and coming to a resolution."

There's concerns there may be shortage of beef on supermarket shelves.

Meanwhile, are continuing to protest outside a number of meat factories across the country despite a series of High Court injunctions put in place.

The Irish Cattle and Sheep Association (ICSA) said the kill figures for cattle was down 7,000 last week compared to the same period last year.

It expects that it will be even lower this week.

Meat Industry Ireland said some customers in export markets have not been served in recent days - but it hasn't reached the stage of empty shelves here.

However, Eddie Punch - general secretary of the ICSA - said supermarkets should be concerned and should be involved in the beef talks.

He argued: "If we have hugely disrupted supplies this week, it is going to very quickly put pressure on a variety of contracts that meat factories have.

"The question is which ones fall first? But because of short supply chains, another week of this will certainly cause disruption in our view."
