Gardaí in Co Meath have launched an investigation after an attempted armed bank raid this morning.
Two masked man entered the Bank of Ireland in Dunboyne at 9am and threatened staff with guns.
They failed to access the safe, and made off in a silver car.
The men, who are believed to have been armed, broke into the Dunboyne branch of the bank through the roof.
They threatened staff, who were trying to open the safe.
Their attempts failed and the raiders escaped in a Silver Hyundai car.
This was later found abandoned a short time later on the Summerhill Road outside the town.
No money was taken in the raid and no staff members were injured.
Gardaí at Ashbourne are now appealing for anyone with information to call them at 01-8010-600.
