If you can find somewhere with a flat south-eastern horizon, keep watch at roughly 8:50PM tonight.
Astronomy Now reports that the moon will appear “as big as a plate” as it rises.
While Luna is physically closer to the Earth during the lunar perigee, or the point in it’s elliptic orbit when it’s closest to the earth, the gigantic size set to be witnessed tonight will be partly an illusion.
It will be even more impressive Saturday night, when just after ten o’clock it will rise 99.9% full.
