27-year-old Robert Carroll Ard claim, Clonee in Co. Meath is the 2nd man to be charged with withholding information to gardai investigating the shooting of the dissident republican near his home in Clongriffin, North Dublin on September 3rd
Shouts of ‘Scumbag’ and other abuse were hurled at Mr. Carroll as he was led from court.
Threat of jail
Judge William Earley brought the men responsible for the outburst before him and warned if it happens again they will be jailed for contempt.
The court heard Carroll made no reply when charged with withholding information from gardai last night but his lawyers say he strongly denies the allegation.
The 27-year-old has been remanded in custody with consent to bail despite garda objections.
‘Flight risk’
He was described in court as a flight risk who frequently changes address and stays in hotels.
Garda Alan Roche said there was strong evidence linking Carroll to the crime including vast amounts of CCTV, witness statements, telephonics, computer analysis and fingerprint analysis.
