Two men have been jailed after pleading guilty to their part in a raid on the home of a Cork businessman which was foiled by gardai.
Trevor O'Sullivan (38) from Curraheen Close in Bishopstown was given 15 years with three years suspended at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Vincent Murray (38) with an address in Glandore Park in Knocknaheeney was given 10 years with three years suspended.
They were involved in an attempted aggravated burglary at the home of Pat Glavin at Rougrane in Glanmire on August 11th last year.
Gardai had mounted surveillance on Mr. Glavin's home after becoming aware it was a target for Mr. O'Sullivan.
Mr. Glavin and his family were moved out of their home in anticipation of a raid on the night in question.
Gardai who were lying in wait arrested Mr. O'Sullivan at the scene, while Mr. Murray was caught in a field nearby.
Judge Sean O'Donnabhain noted that there was a distinction between the parts played by both accused - but it remained a well planned well organised professional crime.
