Mercedes-Benz Ireland has today announced that the new CLA shooting brake will arrive on Irish shores in a matter of weeks. The new five-door CLA Shooting Brake will be their fifth offering in the compact car segment.
The manufacturer tells us that they have set their price to attract people who may not have previously considered estate car ownership. The expected entry price looks to begin from €31,490.
This sporty looking vehicle doesn’t look a million miles from the larger CLS Shooting Brake. It dons a long domed bonnet and a diamond radiator grille. To the back are twin exhausts on a more robust looking bumper.
We’re told that the interior is 4cm higher than the four-door version and the CLA Shooting Brake offers luggage capacity of between 495 and 1,354 litres. Two equipment lines will be available – Urban and AMG. Two CDI diesel engines (2.2 litre 136hp & 2.2 litre 177hp) will be available, as will three petrol (1.6 litre 122hp, 1.6 litre 156hp & 2.0 litre 211hp). All engines are Euro 6-compliant.
Ciaran Allen, sales manager for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars said 'the CLA Shooting Brake fills an important niche amongst that expanding segment of the market whose preference is for a car that has load-carrying capacity and more scope for an active life'.
