Munster and Leinster could see thundery downpours, with very heavy rain tonight and Friday morning - with an on-going risk of flooding.

Rainfall totals of 60 millimetres are likely.

While Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal will get heavy rain into early Friday of up to 40 millimetres.

There is also a wind warning in place for the entire country - strongest in the east and north east.

Strong to gale force winds could reach gusts of up to 100km/h.

Siobhan Ryan from Met Éireann says a band of rain is moving across the country.

While Arwen Foley, editor at AA Roadwatch, has this advice for drivers who find themselves caught in a flood.
