Three Met Éireann weather warnings for wind, snow and ice remain in effect this morning until 10am.
An orange wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Southwesterly winds reached average speeds of 65 to 80 km/h - while gusts of 110 to 130 km/h are possible, with exposed coasts and higher ground most at risk.
Meanwhile a yellow wind warning is also in place for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford.

The winds will ease off later on this afternoon.
And there is a yellow warning for snow and ice in Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
Wintry showers developed last night with reports of hail, snow and ice.
Met Éireann says larger values are possible on higher ground.
It is also warning that with strong winds forecast, driving conditions could become poor. The showers will continue into Monday morning.
