Met Éireann is warning that wintry showers will continue today across the country, with snow accumulations of up to 6cm possible in places.
A status orange alert is now in place for Cavan and Monaghan, while a status yellow alert continues for most areas countrywide.
Met Éireann warns that higher accumulations are possible over hills and mountains.

Meanwhile parts of England are being battered by "thundersnow" storms as the winter weather continues to bite across Britain.
More than 200 schools in Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England are closed today.
Main roads in Durham, Yorkshire and north Wales are among those closed because of the weather and more than a dozen rail services between Manchester and York have been cancelled, as northern England is hit by the storms this morning.
Flights to and from Manchester Airport have been suspended, with flights being diverted.
