A planning decision for Dublin's new MetroLink has been delayed yet again.
An Bord Pleanala still has not got an inspector's report and Dublin Fingal TD Alan Farrell said his constituents need certainty about when it will.
“It’s already been delayed by the planning process for up to six months,” he said.
“A decision was in fact due on Thursday December 21st.
“Unfortunately, that decision was not made and An Bord Pleanála are still waiting for an oral hearing which will most likely involve a number of further months delay [to this] decision making process.”
Deputy Farrell said this is not even the first delay because of the planning process.
“[The decision] was to be made in the summer of 2023,” he said.
“It was put back to Thursday 21st and we don’t actually know when.
“So, I would very much like An Bord Pleanála to set out the timeline for everyone concerned with this particular project, which is so incredibly important to the people of North Dublin but also for Swords, which is now a growing city.”
Construction on the MetroLink had been due to start in 2025 with completion estimated for the early 2030s.
