A senior figure in Fianna Fail has said the party does not want to face into another election.
Cork TD Michael McGrath admits their is a frustrating vacuum at the moment, but says the reality is we have a fractured political system.
He said Fianna Fail will continue to try and build support with Independents and smaller parties to have Micheál Martin elected Taoiseach on April 6th, and that Fine Geal has made it clear they do not want any contact with the party until after then
"I don't believe spending €20-30 million on another election is what people want," said McGrath. "I think people want those who have been elected... to work out a solution to the current political impasse."
He says some parties are not discussing government formation:
