Midlands Regional Hospital is asking people to avoid attending their Emergency Department unless its absolutely necessary.

The Hospital says it's extremely busy at present and need facilities available for emergencies that may present this evening and tonight.

In a statement, they've expressed regret that patients have had to wait for long periods for admission and say the situation is being kept under review.
