The Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister has apologised for any offence caused following a tweet he posted yesterday.
Charlie Flanagan yesterday tweeted a message in which he said "2015 offers Ireland the choice of Constitutional politics or Cult politics":
2015 offers Ireland the choice of Constitutional politics or Cult politics.

Sinn Féin TD Padraig MacLochlainn responded to Minister Flanagan's tweet, with a picture of Blueshirts saluting:

The Minister then responded to another tweet which suggested he had made a spelling mistake:
@artbyaidan @PadraigMacL yep left out the 'n'.

Minister Flanagan came under fire from a number of other Twitter users following the exchange.
A spokesman for Minister Flanagan said this evening that the minister is "an active user of social media", and apologised for any offence caused.
