Senior ministers are set to consider whether to close construction sites during lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Cabinet sub-committee is meeting this afternoon, ahead of a full Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
A decision on whether to close schools for the rest of the month is on the agenda, amid growing expectations they will not reopen as planned next Monday.
However, it's been confirmed other measures will also be looked at - including whether the construction sector can continue operating during the level five lockdown.
Those sites are currently considered essential work, and are allowed remain open.
Speaking ahead of this afternoon's meeting, Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe says he and other ministers will hear from health officials today about the situation.
He said: "Keeping construction open will be a very important part of how we can help our economy recover as we move through the year.
"But we'll need to hear the views from NPHET as to what could be the health consequences of doing that."
