Gardaí have arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of murder.
The individual has been detained at Killarney Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The body of Miriam Burns, who was in her 70s, was found at a residence in Ardshanavooley, Killarney yesterday afternoon.
Ms Burns’ body was taken to University Hospital Kerry where a post-mortem was carried out State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.
Local councillor Donal Grady said she will be greatly missed:
“She’d a good word to say about everyone,” he said.
“She always looked on the bright side and that’s the type of a person she was.
“I just can’t believe that she’s gone.
“She had a lot of friends here in Killarney.
“It’s condolences to her family, her friends and to everyone in Killarney - sure, everyone in Killarney was her friend.
“She was everyone’s friend.”
