Three divers have been safely rescued off the Wexford coast after they failed to reappear at the spot where they started their dive.

The men, all experienced divers, went missing at about 12.05pm near the Saltee Islands, south of Kilmore Quay.

A search operation was launched straight away, and in less than an hour, the three were spotted about a mile away near Cunningmore Rock by the coastal helicopter.

They were taken on board the Kilmore Quay Lifeboat and are said to be safe and well.
