Frost, fog and lying snow in places at first.

There will be some sunny spells in eastern areas early this morning, but occasional heavy rain and hail showers in western counties will become widespread during the morning.

Some snow on higher ground in the west and north with isolated thunderstorms.

Highest temperatures of 4C to 8C in moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

TONIGHT

Breezy tonight with further showers mainly in Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster, where they may merge to give some longer spells of rain at times and some wintry falls on higher ground.

Showers will be well scattered in more southern counties. Overnight lows of 1C to 4C with some frost in places.
